Debuting in the Ciaz in 2015, Maruti Suzuki’s electrified Smart Hybrid system is complemented by engine Idle Start-Stop technology. This electrified powertrain system was developed for enhancing fuel savings and reducing emissions effectively during real-world driving conditions. Recently, new engine technologies such as Dual Jet and Dual VVT have been incorporated to make the system even more effective.
Taking things up a notch is the company’s new state-of-the-art full hybrid model, the Grand Vitara Intelligent Electric Hybrid. The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara Intelligent Electric Hybrid is equipped with a sophisticated dual motor setup that includes an internal combustion engine and an electric motor. The Hybrid SUV features a Lithium-ion battery pack that can power the electric motor to give the vehicle a pure electric driving mode.
The Grand Vitara Smart Hybrid is an ideal step towards further reducing fuel consumption and emissions at this stage, since the limitations of driving range, limited charging infrastructure and EV battery life do not limit its usability.
So, while electric vehicles are the future, there is a transition time involved before they can go mainstream. To fill this void, Maruti Suzuki is paving the way for electrification of its powertrain systems with Progressive Smart Hybrid and Intelligent Electric Hybrid technologies in its cars to make them more environmentally friendly, today.
