Airbags* are an occupant protection system consisting of inflatable bags that are housed in specially designed cavities. Upon a severe impact, they are designed to inflate and deploy to cushion flailing occupants, and prevent them from coming into contact with the vehicle’s interior parts such as dashboard, steering wheel, etc. This helps dramatically reduce chances of bodily injuries when an occupant is properly strapped in with a seat belt.

Airbags are a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), that work in conjunction with the seat belt, preventing injuries in case of a collision, provided occupants are properly seated. Sensors in the car rapidly calculate the intensity of the crash, the direction of the moving vehicle and accordingly deploy the airbags.
