Confidence is key to driving. It gives you better control. This course helps you build on road confidence and become a good driver.
It is important to ensure that your car is in good condition. It can help you avoid a number of adverse situations. Worn out tyres are not only prone to punctures but may even end up exploding, causing a car to swerve uncontrollably. Other good practices include making sure that the oil levels of the car are up to the mark and maintaining proper tyre pressure while driving.
Wearing of seat belt is mandatory and not a choice. Even if your car has airbags, it does not mean that you can forget about your seat belt. Wearing of seat belt is a safe practice for both short and long distances.
Sometimes certain situations are beyond your control. The same applies to fellow drivers on the road. One cannot determine their driving culture. They may be inexperienced, ignorant of the rules, having an emergency or just having a bad day! Become well-versed in defensive driving and do your best if faced with something like this.
This is one of the most important aspects of being a safer driver. You need to know about the traffic rules and regulations of your state/country. This ensures your safety and that of the public. Your curriculum in this driving school will cover theory classes as well as practical sessions. So, make sure you pay attention to what is taught in class and you shall be driving responsibly in no time.
Get accustomed to driving at slow to moderate speed in the beginning to get a sense of perception and reaction. This also improves your reflexes, which will come in handy once you move up the speed range.
Do not weave between lanes in a traffic jam. It leads to more chaos in the traffic rather than helping you make your way out of it. Patience is a virtue when it comes to driving in the city.
Use indicators while changing lanes, making a right or left turn, and so on. Indicators are a way for drivers to communicate with other drivers on the road, keeping them alert about where you'll turn so that they can maintain a safe distance.
Do not multi-task while driving. Distractions lead to collisions. Before you start driving the car, connect your smartphone to Bluetooth or the infotainment system, which will let you stay updated on the go and you can keep your eyes and focus on the road even if you have to answer a call. Adjust your seat and mirrors in a position you are comfortable with so you don't have to be distracted with adjustments when driving.
Never drive if you are drowsy or sleepy. Drowsiness impairs your driving abilities, making you a hazard on the road, not only for yourself but for others as well. If you simply have to get somewhere, either get someone else to drive or take a cab.
The onus to drive safely and responsibly is in your hands and these good practices help establish that. Imbibe and make them a part of your daily driving routine to set the right example for others on the road.
