Maruti Suzuki India Limited (“Maruti Suzuki”) has announced to recall 2,555 Alto K10 vehicles wherein it is suspected that there is a possible defect in Steering Gear Box Assembly (“Part”). The said defect, in a rare case may affect the vehicle steerability.

Out of abundant caution, customers of the affected vehicles are advised not to drive or use the vehicle till the Part is replaced.

Affected vehicle owners will be contacted by Maruti Suzuki authorized dealer workshops for inspection and replacement of the Part, free of cost.

As per the Central Motor Vehicles Rules 1989, Automotive Industry Standard-137 Part-3rd of standard (“Regulation”) which came into effect for all the BS6 Phase-II vehicles sold after 1st of April 2023, it has been made mandatory for all car manufacturers in India to check the In-use performance ratio (IUPR) of few customers owned BS VI Phase-II vehicles.

It’s a Government of India (“GOI”) initiative for green environment wherein all car manufacturers are required to pick few customer’s running vehicles for verification of in-use performance ratio (IUPR).
