Developing advanced automotive technologies is our forte at Maruti Suzuki. Smart Hybrid is one such technology which is an important step towards achieving greener and cleaner mobility in India.

Available with BS6-compliant K15B and K12N petrol engines, Smart Hybrid technology uses an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) in place of a conventional alternator which is connected to a dual battery setup. Using brake energy regeneration, the ISG converts the kinetic energy produced from braking into electrical energy and stores it in these two batteries. This stored electrical energy is used by ISG for two motor functions – Engine Stop Start and Torque Assist.

⦁ In Engine Stop Start, the engine is turned off when the car is in idle at standstill. As soon as you depress the clutch, the ISG uses the electrical energy to restart the car. This helps to save fuel in every day driving especially during peak office hours.

⦁ Fuel consumption is always higher when the car starts moving from a standstill. This is where the Torque Assist function comes into play. The ISG supplements engine power at that time to reduce fuel consumption and improve performance in that phase.
